Requirements for thermal environmental conditions (temperature, relative humidity) and indoor environmental quality (e.g., carbon dioxide [CO2] concentration, particulate matter [PM] concentration) are set to achieve the following purposes:

• To perform required activities in a building in a safe and efficient manner

• To support processes housed in the building, and

• To provide conditions required for the long-term integrity of the building and building materials
